Bamboo Winter Lights 2026 is coming

It's official: “Bamboo Winter Lights 2026,” our winter illumination event in Wakayama Farm's bamboo forest, will be held this year.

Bamboo stalks rising out of the quiet darkness of night, the soft glow of bamboo lanterns scattered through the forest, and artworks created by bamboo artists. Light and art come together to transform the forest into a dreamlike world, entirely different from how it looks during the day.

The event runs from Saturday, November 28, 2026 to Sunday, February 28, 2027. It is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from sunset until 8:00 PM (last entry 7:30 PM). We are closed from December 30 to January 3.

Admission for an evening walk in the bamboo forest: Adults ¥1,500, Children (6–15) ¥1,000, Children (3–5) ¥500.

This winter also marks 10 years since we opened to visitors. To celebrate this milestone and thank everyone for their support, we will hold a 10th anniversary ceremony and the official lighting of the illumination on November 28.

The planned program: an anniversary concert by SINON from 4:00 PM, a traditional Japanese instrument performance by Goninshu and a ninja show by Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura from 5:15 PM, and the lighting of the illumination at 6:00 PM.

Reserved-seat tickets for the anniversary concert: Adults ¥3,000, Children (6–15) ¥2,500, Children (3–5) ¥2,000 (children under 3 who sit on a parent's lap are free). Tickets will go on sale soon on the Bamboo Forest at Wakayama Farm website.

Visitors with general admission can also enjoy the concert, but no seating will be provided.

Food trucks will also be there, so feel free to come along for a bite to eat.

The “Bamboo Sea of Clouds” (Take Unkai), which opened this July and has been very popular, is scheduled to be suspended from December through February to protect it from freezing.

That means only on the evenings of Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29 can you see the Bamboo Sea of Clouds and Bamboo Winter Lights 2026 together.

Don't miss this rare chance to see both together.

We look forward to seeing you.
